Our iconic Pleiades 1 dress features a signature inverted V-cut on bodice front, and has a lot of feminine details: soft gathers at shoulders and sleeve heads, covered buttons… Make Pleiades your own and wear it from Winter to Summer with several options: long sleeves, short sleeves, short tied sleeves, or “lantern” sleeves; gathered skirt, frilly skirt, or frill-less skirt.

  • Format: layered A0, A4 and US letter PDF (one layer per size), with or without margins to cut off (depending on your preference).
  • Pattern pieces do not overlap.
  • A 5/8” (1.5cm) seam allowance is included.
  • A fully illustrated, 23 pages booklet is provided with the pattern, with highly detailed illustrations.

Clear
Description

Fabric choice

A large choice of woven fabrics: crepe, twill, poplin, double gauze… in  cotton, viscose, polyester, linen, tencel… This pattern is also ideal for velvet, as it has shoulder gathers instead of bust darts. You will need more fabric to match prints if any.

Notions

A 21inch (55cm) zipper, interfacing in the right weight for your fabric (half a yard or meter will be enough), 6 buttons for the bodice (they are decorative but also a way to hold facing in place even better). Matching thread for your fabric, scissors, pins, a marking pen, a machine needle that fits your fabric type. You will also need some strips of interfacing or organza to stabilize seams that are on the bias, to prevent any stretching (optional but recommended).

Sewing level

Intermediate: 3/5. You will need to sew a zipper and make gathers on several pieces (there are videos about these techniques here).

    My all-time favorite pattern. I made 6 versions of this one, winter versions, summer versions, in double gauze, crepe… Just pay attention to shoulder width if you have narrow shoulders, you may need to adjust.

    I love this dress. I am an experienced sewer who prints a ton of patterns. This pattern did not print well at all. I am going to have to add lines and measure before cutting my fabric. Such a shame.

    If you’re purchasing a pattern on Etsy – especially from a new and/or international seller – be sure to reach out if you’re having any problems. I was having trouble printing the pattern to scale, so I sent Blandine a message and was impressed by how communicative and helpful she was in working to resolve my issues. Troubleshooting overseas printer problems can be tricky, but she was quick to offer suggestions and even send me different file formats to try. She genuinely wants to resolve any issues that come up so other sewists can enjoy making and wearing these patterns.

    Pattern arrived via pdf, I knew on purchase it was a print at home one but an A0 option would be great, there are YouTube videos to go along with this pattern which were helpful but also a bit hard to follow for example the pattern states 5/8” seam allowance and on a specific bit it said for help visit… so I watched the video for that specific portion and she says sew with a 1cm S.A, which I didn’t do as I didn’t want my measurements to be off and the physical pattern said 5/8”. Dress turned out lovely though and I will make again

    I am very happy with the Pleiades pattern! It is elegant and pretty, just like I had hoped it would be. I am using it as a maternity dress and it fits the bump perfectly. I thought the flat sleeves pull a little across the shoulder, but that could be something I did while sewing. All in all, I am very happy.

    Need to finish my first dress. Found the bust adjustment tutorial online after my bodice test run. So need to give that a go. would be great if it was included with in the instructions as it is not a standard bodice type. Can’t wait to see the final product.

    The dress turned out beautiful and was so much fun to sew. The pattern was clear and easy but I did have some trouble understanding some instructions and would have liked a bit more step by step instructions with illustrations. This is probably only because English isn’t my first (or even second) language and this was my first time reading sewing instructions in English so some things are probably self explained to others but not me. Still very much worth five stars!

    Super well written pattern. The finishing of this garment is topnotch. I really like how you can choose different options for the sleeves. On her website are also very clear videos on how to make it. Only thing I found difficult was the sizing: in the end it was too big for me although I measured myself beforehand.

    This is a gorgeous and easy to follow pattern. I’ve made 3 versions in total so far, a couple out of cotton fabric for everyday use and one out of silky fabric to wear for a wedding and it’s a great wedding guest dress. I’m usually a size 8 and have found that the size 4 actually fits me best (even 5 months pregnant) so sizing is on the large side.
