The Etoile dress by French Poetry is this flirty little number you can wear everyday in the summer. It’s also a great choice for a date: a deep V-neck that shows just the right amount of cleavage, darts in front and back to define your silhouette, but cute details with the front buttons and gathered short sleeves adorned with self-fabric ties.
2 to 16 – tested up to size 14
3/5 – average. You need to know how to make darts, how to set a sleeve, and how to make bias ribbons (tutorials available here).
Soft and flowy fabrics: silk crepe, viscose, polyester crepe, linen… With 60inches wide fabrics, you will need 3 meters for larger sizes (10 to 16, see cutting instructions). For smaller sizes 2.5 meters can be enough. With 44inches fabrics: same applies. If necessary you can reduce the fabric length needed by cutting the sleeve ties in the straight of grain.
You will need:
Interfacing in the right weight for your fabric, matching thread for your fabric, scissors, pins, a marking pen, a machine needle that fits your fabric type, buttons (the pattern calls for 9 12mm buttons but don’t hesitate to play on the number, position and width of buttons). You will also need some strips of interfacing or organza to stabilize seams that are on the bias, to prevent any stretching of the neckline.
This pattern is offered in sizes 2 to 16 according to the body measurements below.
