The French Poetry Libra bodysuit is our new basic for a touch of casual elegance: throw it on with a pair of jeans instead of a regular tee and go about your day, or instantly dress up by changing into a maxi skirt. The back cutout is bra-compatible. Top it off with a grosgrain ribbon bow for that ultimate French look.

Sizing

This pattern is offered in sizes 2 to 16 according to the body measurements below. Take your measurements at the widest part of bust and hips and the narrowest point of the waist, then compare these measurements to this table. Note: the finished garment length is adjustable (I explain how) so not provided here.

Good to know

Fabric choice/yardage

Thick jersey (ribbed jersey is ideal), stretch velvet… All stretch fabrics with at least 75% stretch (you need to be able to easily stretch 4’’ (10cm) of fabric to at least 6.9’’ (17.5cm).

With 60’’ wide fabrics: 1.20 yards for all versions it no length adjustment is needed. If you need to lengthen the bodysuit (back waist length and/or crotch length), take 1.7 yards. With 44’’ wide fabrics, you will need 2.20 yards for all versions.

You will need

Matching thread for your fabric, a needle suited to your fabric type (make sure it is new or in good condition so as not to scratch the fabric). 0.39’’ (1cm) wide elastic: 3.3 yards (3m) for sizes 2 to 8, 3.8 yards (3.5m) for a size 10 to 16, 3 small snaps to open and close the bodysuit at the crotch, and 1.09 yard (1m) of ribbon for the bow tie in the back.

The French Poetry Libra bodysuit pattern is sold in PDF and can be downloaded right after purchase in US letter or A4 (print at home) or A0 (copy shop). Number of pages: 2 in A0, 40 in A4, 45 in US letter.
