French Poetry

French Poetry

Poetry, as believed by many, is the trickiest form of literature. It is never meant to be taken at face value because it is subjected to many views. For example, to somebody the poem may be about unrequited love and despair while to another it speaks of hope and new beginnings. As such, there are a considerable number of people who are not too enthusiastic about poetry. They prefer saying things straight out instead of beating around the bush.

On the other hand, the vagueness of poems make it more special, and ironically, more meaningful. There have been countless of situations when people have tried to express their feelings and judgments through poems. The Frenchmen are not an exception. French poetry has been a part of French literature since the medieval times.

French poetry is essentially an expression of one’s ideas and impressions. However, it does not mean that there are no rules to be followed. There are certain requirements to be met before a piece of literature can be regarded as French poetry.
